What advice would you now give to someone writing his/her first scienfific paper.
Hello everyone, well here we are at the end of our term, I must say it went so fast and I am going to miss this class and everyone. I have learned so much throughout the term, but the one thing that I would like to comment on is what advice would I now give to someone writing his/her first scientific paper. First of all I would say that no matter how intimidated you are on starting to write we have all got to start somewheres, so it is always better to start early with doing research. I never realized how much actually goes into writing but a person cannot just sit down and write a paper and turn it in, oh no no no there is so much more to it. Like when I first started comp. 1 class I never knew about plagiarism and how serious it is but I do now. Writing is not just about putting stuff down on paper, it is about plagiarism, grammar, in text citing, paragraph structure, run on sentences, references, and so much more. When you write your first paper, and you have to write peer reviews think of it as a way of learning and not as someone is critisizing your work. I really like the idea of peer reviews because I learned from them and used them in my paper, to make my paper sound better, it is always helpful to have another set of eyes looking at your paper and giving you ideas. The biggest advise to someone is to start early and keep motivated, because in the end it all works out. Good luck to everyone in their careers.

How do I feel about my paper being done?
Hello everyone, can you believe that we are done with our term already, I have learned so much this term and enjoyed the class, and I must say I loved Julies giggle during seminar it kept me motivated. I am finish with my paper, and yes I do feel relieved to have accomplished it in order to hand it in on time, as I said I was intimidated with the thought of writing another paper, but once I sat down and got started on it I was ok. I think the hardest time I am having with writing a paper is to do a argumentive comment, I am really not too sure on that yet, since I do not like to argue. I must say I feel a little worried about the grade on my paper, if I did it all correctly, but that is the only way we learn is by good strong critisism. I am always looking at ways to improve writing, so I am always open to new ideas. My feelings about writing at this point is that the more you do it the more relaxed and easier things flow. I have learned so much within College Comp. 1 and College Comp. 2 such as what plagiarism is really about and how serious of a offense it is. I never realized that writers go through so much when they sit down and write it is just amazing, so now when I read something I actually look for transitions and how they themselves write. I think that for us to understand a topic or subject the best way is to just sit down and research and write a paper about it, because there is so much to learn on a subject. Well that's all for now, I wish everyone luck in their future.

Issues I had throughout the blog process
Considering the problems I had with setting up my blog, and not know really how to communicate with blogs I think I did a half way decent job with posting to my own blog. I enjoyed setting up the blog even though I was not able to really know how to communicate with other classmates. I was proud of myself for being able to finally figure out how to do it and to be able to get a picture in it that was out of my own pictures. I was determined to keep working on putting my blog together until I accomplished it, and guess what, being determined pays off. I would have loved to been able to communicate with others, but I think that alot of us did not know how to use blogs so there were probally not too many comments on peoples blogs. At least I know how to put together a blog if ever needed in my lifetime, it was a learning experience, like the saying goes you learn something new everyday.

How do I feel about peer reviews?
Hello everyone, I chose to talk a little about what my feelings are towards peer reviews. To me I really like the idea of peer reviews, because it gives me a chance to know what they think of my paper and they can give me good critical critisism. We get so involved in just the writing of the paper, that we sometimes miss some detailed areas of importance such as small things like punctuation or commas. I had a hard time coming up with a good solid thesis statement, so I asked someone to help me with it, and that helped alot, two heads are better than one. When we get down to just writing and putting all our thoughts down on paper, sometimes we just get away and write down whatever, but when someone else reads the paper, they will sometimes catch things like run on sentences or maybe where there should have been quotation marks around a statement. I found that sometimes reading the paper backwards helps to in order to catch mis-spelling and periods.
My experiences with peer reviews have always been helpful, I would rather have someone else read my paper to give me more ideas, or just point out my errors. To me though in order to give peer reviews to someone I feel like I am putting their paper down, so I try to be gentle, but for someone to give me some good critisism is always a good thing for myself. To me the way that I think of peer review is for a way of learning. Thank you for reading.

Unit 6 blog posting- June 16, 2010
Hello everyone, I am just sitting here trying to figure out again about this blogging, hopefully it goes into my correct blog. I am sharing with you what I have learned or personally been dealing with in the six weeks so far. I have learned quite a bit of information such as how to use the library, and maneuver around in it. I have alot to learn and experience with the online library yet but I know now how to come up with different area to do research. When I first started learning about thesis statements I had a heck of a time, but we just have to remember to know what is involved in a thesis statement. Your thesis statement should be in the introduction of your paper, and should involve the main points of your paper, what you are going to talk about. Learned also how to do citations, references and also what plagiarsm involves and that it is a very serious offense which could lead to a lawsuit. Also learned about prewriting strategies and how to use them to generate ideas for my first draft. The most difficult thing that I am dealing with now is citatations and references, and how to do proper APA formatting.
I think that my ideas about this topic will help me not just to know about Fetal Alcohol Syndrome but what it is actually about. I am studying to go into Medical Assisting so whatever helpful information I can get about a medical problem the better off I will be. If I should ever come across in my field of work someone that is pregnant and has problems with alcohol I will be able to inform them and let them know of the risks associated with drinking while pregnant.

Unit 5 blog post- June 10, 2010
Hello everyone, I chose how is school influencing your life at or up to this point. When I first looked into going back to school I was a little query about it, because I did not know what to expect and at my age too. I knew I had to do something though, because I wanted a stable and reliable job that I could call my career. The academic advisor that I talked tohelped me alot and eased all my thoughts and fears of boing back to school, he was very helpful. I never thought that I would enjoy going back to school, because I did not really like school and was not a "A" student, but so far I have really surprised myself and enjoy it now. I have learned so much such as with my writing classes, to be able to sit down and feel confident on having to write a report. Being in school gave me a higher self-esteem because I proved to myself already that I can do this, and that's all that matters is that I am doing this for myself. I have learned so much with my Medical Assisting classes, and I find everything so very interesting, and now when my significant other goes to the doctor I can somewhat read hs lab results and know what they are somewhat talking about. There are many moreobstacles that I will have to face before this is all over and I will hopefully graduate, but I know for myself that I can do it.
Unit 4 blog posting- June 2, 2010
As we move onto unit , we are discussing plagiarism I picked out consider some of the real-world plagiarism issues you have learned of that include professionals. How should those issues be handled? Some of the real-world plagiarism issues that I have learned of that included professionals are when college students have to write and essay on a certain topic. I also came across in my creer already is when someone alters clinical records by just scribbling out or using whit out instead of the proper way of crossing the errorout and initializing and put in the correct answer or form. Another area where plagiarism might happen is law enforcement, where a officer might falsify a report. I think that when it comes to political issues there is alot of plagiarism because that person wants the credit of the other opponents ideas to win votes for themselves. To handle these kind of issues, documentation in clinical records the person should be talked to about it and if it continues to happen they should receive a written warning. As for law enforcement, the officer that is guilty shoul be suspended with an investigation. As far as political issues and plagiarism I really do not know how they should be handled, except to ask or documentation that their ideas are their own.
