C. Schmidt

Hello everyone, I hope that I finally got the hang of this because I was ready to pull out my hair. My name is Cindy and I am from Central WI., I am enrolled in the Medical Assisting course and I am on my fifth term here at Kaplan. So far it has been quite a adventurous journey, but hopefully it will all be worth it in the end. My hobbies are gardening, snowmobiling, cooking, baking, watching a good LMN Movie, and just plain and simple enjoying nature and being outside. My main goal in life is to finish my schooling and to get my diploma in Medical Assisting and have a decent, respectable job with no worries of layoffs.

  1. Hi everyone, I hope I do this correctly, since I am new to blogging and am so clueless on what I am doing. I am from WI and am in my fifth term here at Kaplan. For our unit 3 blog, it says that we are suppose to discuss how you feel about being an online student. My feelings towards online education is that I think it is great. I do not do well in a classroom environment, so this might work better for me than to have to travel to a classroom and sit for 8 hours. I really like the advantage of being able to log into class at anytime, and work at my own pace. I am still so fasinated that we are able to just communicate all over the world, and do our homework and just hit a button and it goes to my professor. I hope everyone has patience with me while I try to get the hang of this all. I do not have really any ideas on creating a closer community, except for sharing our photos of ourselves if we have one. I do not have a photo of myself, sorry.
Goodluck to everyone in this blogging atmosphere.

  2. As we move onto unit 4, we are discussing plagiarism, I picked out consider some of the real-world plagiarism issues you have learned of the include professionals. How should those issues be handled? Some of the real-world plagiarism issues that I have learned of that includes professionals are when college students have to write an esay on a certain topic. I also came across in my career already is when someone alters clinical records by just scribbling out or using white out instead of the proper way of crossing the error out and initializing and put in the correct answer or form. Another are where plagiarism might happen is law enforcement, where a officer might falsify a report. I think that when it comes to political issues there is alot of plagiarism because thaat person wants the credit of the other opponents ideas to win votes for themselves. To handle these kind of issues, documentation in clinical records the person should be talked to about it and if it continues to happen they should receive a written warning. As for law enforcement, the officer that is guilty should be suspended with an investigation. As far as political issues and plagiarism, I really do not know how they should be handled, except to ask for documentaion that their ideas are their own.

  3. Hello everyone, I chose how is school influencing your life at ou up to this point? When I first looked into going back to school I was a little query about it, because I did not know what to expect and at my age too. I knew I had to do something though, because I wanted a stable and reliable job that I could call my career. The academic advisor that I talked to helped me alot and eased all my thoughts and frights of going back to school, he was very helpful. I never thought that I would enjoy going back to school, because I did not really like school and was not a "A" student, but so far I have really surprised myself and enjoy it now. I have learned so much such as with my writing classes, to be able to sit down and feel confident on having to write a report. Being in school gave me a higher self-esteem because I proved to myself already that I can do this, and that's all that matters is that I am doing this for myself. I have learned so much with my Medical Assisting classes, and I find everything so very interesting, and now when my significant other goes to the doctor I can somewhat read his lab results and know what they are somewhat talking about. There are many more obstacles that I will have to face before this is all over and I graduate, but I know for myself that I can do it.
